The symposium, held in Madrid Spain, attracted more than 400 delegates from around the world that were gathered to exchange and share their knowledge and ideas on fluvial environments.
This showcase allowed the presentation of numerical modelling of physical parameters like water levels, water currents, wind waves and water temperature. In the same way, many presentations focused on numerical modelling of wetlands, fish habitat, floodplain fish reproduction habitat and bird habitat.
Scientific and technical advances developed with this approach that is based on the integration of knowledge and on the production of predictive environmental indicators, which are easy to use, were greatly appreciated by the scientific community. These advances illustrated, at an international level, the environmental modelling expertise of Environment Canada and its partners.
